The Sejm adopted amendments to the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction and certain other acts regarding, among others, the cultivation of hemp and hemp other than fiber hemp (medical marijuana). Thanks to the change, the possibility of cultivating medical marijuana in Poland by research institutes supervised by the minister responsible for agriculture was introduced, after meeting the conditions specified in the act, including the GIF permission, the cultivation is to be conducted for the purpose of manufacturing pharmaceutical raw materials.
Start of the investment based on the preparation of a business plan, facility layout, investment assumptions, and legislative path.
This year was mainly spent on the construction preparation of the facility, preliminary preparation of documentation, including the User Requirement Specifications for critical infrastructure. During this period, suitable materials were selected and built: cultivation rooms for the GACP zone and the manufacturing room for the GMP zone, storage zone, technical zone, and office zone.
Key personnel were appointed in Canna Gold, consisting of specialists in quality maintenance, maintenance management, administrative department, IT cell, production department, and management staff.
In 2024, the focus was mainly on test runs of the infrastructure and the preparation of facility documentation.
At the end of 2024, Canna Gold established key cooperations to launch the formal path to cultivate and manufacture hemp other than fiber hemp (medical marijuana) in Poland, without the need to import plant material as an active substance (API) to manufacture a pharmaceutical raw material for pharmacy prescriptions.
At the beginning of 2025, the first test cultivations of fiber hemp were started for a full test of the infrastructure and corrections in the GACP and GMP quality systems.
Canna Gold obtained probably the first GACP certificate in Poland referring to the updated standard developed in summer 2025 by the herbal medicine committee. The update included increased rigor for hemp grown in indoor conditions, and Canna Gold formally met these requirements.
Canna Gold, together with the Research Institute, is making efforts to formalize and start the first test cultivations of hemp other than fiber hemp.
Canna Gold is making efforts to obtain appropriate approvals allowing formal processing of the raw material as an API in the facility, so that it can be manufactured into a pharmaceutical raw material for pharmacy prescriptions.
Canna Gold plans at the end of the year to submit, together with its consortium partners, a registration dossier for a pharmaceutical raw material for pharmacy prescriptions, manufactured from cultivation to manufacturing stages 100% in Poland.
Canna Gold plans to launch formal production and further expand the facility and product portfolio.
